Abuja - The Sierra Leone Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Alfred Nelson-Williams who was last week Friday abducted in Kaduna, was yesterday freed by police, Vanguard reports."
"The diplomat has been reunited with the Sierra Leonean High Commissioner (ambassador) and his family. We were able to locate where he was kept. He is in sound health," said police spokesman, Don Awunah.
Further details on how he was freed are yet to be disclosed although the are unconfirmed reports that the kidnappers had demanded a 40 million dollar ransom.
A special envoy was sent to Abuja by Sierra Leone to act as intermediaries between the kidnappers and the high commission.
Sierra Leone president, Ernest Bai Koroma was also in constant dialogue with his Nigerian counterpart, President Muhammadu Buhari.
News24 Nigeria reported that Nelson was kidnapped together with his driver on Thursday while on his way to attend a function at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Kaduna.
