Abuja - The Abia State governorship crisis turned a dramatic turn yesterday as two divisions of the same court gave contradicting orders on the fate of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Vanguard reports.
The Federal High Court in Abuja maintained that Ikpeazu remain sacked as governor while another Federal High Court in Imo State judged that he was fairly elected and should remain.
Confusingly both courts relied on the same tax receipts presented before them by the accused which is alleged to be forged.
News24 Nigeria reported previously that The Niger Delta Avengers accused the All Progressives Congress of plotting to remove Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, to replace him with Uche Ogah who is loyal to the party.
A Federal High Court in Abuja ordered Ikpeazu, to vacate office immediatelyafter he was accused of submitting false information to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the party’s governorship primary in December 2014.
The court presided over by Justice Okon Abang in its ruling on the case ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately issue a certificate of return to Ogah, who polled the second highest number of votes in the primary.
