The Ikorodu community has become a nightmare for those living there. The people live in constant fear of the unknown. It has happened again.
A 21-year old lady who lives in Ikorodu is battling for her life in a Lagos hospital after she was gang-raped by five men while on her way to work at around 5.30 am.
According to reports, the lady was heading to a bus terminal in the Irawo area of Owode Onirin, when she was suddenly attacked by 5 men who took her to a dark corner where they stripped her naked and took turns to rape her.
After the dastardly act, the hoodlums allowed her to go with a warning that they know where she lives and would come for her if she told anyone what had happened, before disappearing.
The victim was said to have returned home where she informed her parents and the incident was reported to the police who took her to the scene,she was able to identify one of the suspects, a 21-year-old man identified as Mathew Odunayo.
Odunayo was subsequently arrested and charged before the Ogba Magistrates' Court for sexual assault and unlawful penetration with others at large, under the Criminal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecutor, Isiaku Babaji reminded the court that the offense the suspect committed was a serious crime and urged the court to consider a stringent bail that will not enable him to escape in the interest of justice.
